CSR & Work-Life Balance

SHKP produces quality developments and serves community in the belief of ‘Building Homes with Heart’. Through community investment initiatives, we adopt a three-pronged approach to corporate social responsibility, namely reading and holistic development, healthy and sustainable living, and care for the underprivileged. We make strategic use of our resources, our networks and leverage the skills and enthusiasm of our people to make a lasting contribution to the community.

CSR & WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Reading and
Holistic Development
We encourage continuous learning and believe that reading enriches an individual and knowledge creates future and promotes the development of society. For example, the SHKP Reading Club was established in December 2013, offering free complimentary publications, seminars, workshops, guided tour and reading and writing related competitions to promote the appreciation and joy of reading in the community.
Healthy and
Sustainable Living

We are committed to encouraging quality, healthy and sustainable lifestyles. The 2013 Race to ICC-100 – SHKP Vertical Run for the Chest, for example, served not only to the 1,000-plus runners who took part but the entire Hong Kong community in promoting healthy living. In fact, the event was elevated to the international sporting stage as the grand finale of the 2013 Vertical World Circuit, attracting 23 world-class athletes to compete for the title of world champion. We also consider environmental protection essential to sustainable living. During 2012/13, six eco-awareness activities, including beach clean-up and eco-tours were organized with over 800 participants, as part of the SHKP Love Nature Campaign.

Care for the Underprivileged
Offering resources and support to the less fortunate continues to be a key focus of our CSR strategy. Our Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative mobilizes teams of senior executives and staff volunteers to connect with and contribute to the community. We also leverage the Group’s retail and office space for charity, via provisioning of free promotional spots for charitable projects in our malls or office rental concessions to NGOs. We also support the community through the SHKP Volunteer Team, and offer various kinds of scholarships to the next generation.
Work-Life Balance
The Group encourages its staff to maintain a healthy balance between work and outside pursuits. It presents around 50 activities every year including interest classes on things like health care, swimming, yoga, tai chi, gardening and cooking to over 6,500 participants. It also provides a counselling hotline and lunchtime classes. Staff can also take ample, paid personal leave for a variety of reasons.
